Mission Or Adventure #20: Why Every Great Leader Needs a Crew in Their Corner 〰️
Mission OR Adventure is your weekly guide to mastering business as usual while embracing bold innovation—helping you balance what works with what’s next, so you know when to leap or lead. With just a little bit of sparkle thrown in….

Why Every Leader Needs a crew in their corner
There’s this (hindeously misguided) idea that once you reach a certain level in leadership, you're supposed to “just know.”
I know that's what was expected of me in my first leadership role and it made me feel like a failure. Every. Damn. Day.
How to handle tough conversations. How to keep the energy high when your team is dragging. How to make decisions under pressure without second-guessing yourself.
Let me ask you — when did we decide leadership had to be lonely?
🥊 Even Champions Have Coaches
Watch any elite athlete and you’ll notice something: They never enter the ring alone. Even the most seasoned pros have someone in their corner — calling strategy, giving feedback, calming nerves between rounds.
So why do we expect leaders to go it alone?
Being responsible for a team, culture, targets, performance, and people’s emotions is a lot.
And the truth is, the higher you go, the fewer people you can turn to who really get it.
This is exactly why having a coach, mentor, or corner crew matters more than ever — not less.
💬 What Support Actually Looks Like
Support isn’t someone handing you a script and sending you on your way.
It’s having someone who can say:
“Let’s talk through that convo before you have it.” “That reaction isn’t about you — let’s unpack it.” “Here’s a better way to reset culture without the drama.” “You’re not the only one dealing with this. Here’s what’s working for others.”
The right coach doesn’t just help you react better — they help you lead better.
And sometimes the most valuable thing isn’t advice. It’s knowing you’re not the only one who feels like you’re winging it.
💡 What I Wish More Leaders Knew
I’ve worked with hundreds of leaders across industries.
And if I could pass on one insight?
Don’t wait until you’re burnt out to ask for support.
And if you aren't getting the support you need from the people around you - look elsewhere.
The leaders who grow the fastest, build the best teams, and stay in the game long-term?
They have backup.
They have strategy.
And they have someone in their ear saying, “You’ve got this — and here’s how you've got this.”
👥 A Community That’s Got Your Back
I built something for those leaders.
The ones who are done white-knuckling their way through leadership.
(Save that for rollercoasters and horror movie nights, ok?)
It’s called the Imagine8 Pulse Community — and it’s where smart, culture-first leaders plug in for real-time support, tactical tools, and belief-shifting guidance.
It’s not a course.
It’s a support system.
Think: live coaching, real talk, practical tools, and a community that actually gets it.
