Magic is NOT Magic – It’s Systems & Processes (And That’s a Gift 🎁)

Ok, don’t hate me. The first person who said this to me was a Disney Veteran, and I was so mad at them for a VERY long time. Bear with me here.

Magic is NOT Magic – It’s Systems & Processes.

You can create magical experiences for your team, your clients, or even someone at the coffee shop by intentionally following a system or a process.

Now, let me tell you why I was so mad at this Disney person. It wasn’t just what they said—it was how they said it. Their delivery made it feel like magic was all smoke and mirrors, like the magic we love and believe in was just a scam. They acted as if knowing the secret behind the curtain should make us less excited.

But here’s the thing: I call BS.

You SHOULD be excited.

Why? Because the fact that you can create magic for people every single day and there’s a reliable system or process to make it happen? That’s not a scam. That’s a GIFT.

Let’s break this down:

Why Systems & Processes Are the Real Magic Wand

Think about the most magical experiences you’ve had. Maybe it was a seamless visit to Disney World where every detail felt carefully crafted, or maybe it was a surprise birthday party that went off without a hitch. Behind every one of those moments was a system.

Systems and processes aren’t about taking the magic away—they’re about ensuring it happens consistently. They’re the invisible framework that makes sure every guest feels special, every client feels valued, and every team member feels supported.

When you have a system, you’re not relying on luck or random bursts of inspiration. You’re creating a repeatable formula for delight. And that’s where the real magic lies: in knowing that you can deliver those “wow” moments again and again.

How to Create Magic with Systems & Processes ✨

Alright, let’s talk about the how. Here’s the secret sauce:

Start with Intention

  1. Magic doesn’t just “happen.” It starts with a clear intention. What kind of experience do you want to create? How do you want people to feel? At Disney, the intention is to create happiness. What’s yours?

Break It Down

  1. Once you know your intention, reverse-engineer the steps to make it happen. For example, if you want to create a magical onboarding experience for new team members, think about every touchpoint:

Document the Process

  1. Write it down. Every. Single. Step. This isn’t just for you—it’s for your team, so they can replicate the magic even when you’re not there. (And bonus: it makes scaling your business so much easier.)

Test & Tweak

  1. Systems aren’t set in stone. Try them out, gather feedback, and continuously improve. Remember Disney’s “Plus It” approach? It’s a way of making an idea even better. Always look for ways to add a little extra sparkle.

Empower Your Team

  1. Magic happens when everyone is on board. Train your team to follow the systems and give them the freedom to add their own personal touch.

Where to Start: Your First Step to Creating Magic 🌟

Feeling overwhelmed? Don’t be. You don’t need to overhaul your entire business overnight. Start small.

Here’s a simple exercise to get you going:

Pick One Area to Focus On

  1. Maybe it’s your client onboarding, your team meetings, or even your email responses. Choose one area where you want to create a magical experience.

Map Out the Journey

  1. Write down every step of the current process, then ask yourself:

Create Your First System

  1. Turn your answers into a step-by-step process. Test it out. Refine it. And celebrate the magic you’ve just created!

The Bottom Line: Systems & Processes Are the Foundation of Magic

The idea that magic comes from systems and processes doesn’t take away from the wonder—it amplifies it. It means you have the power to create joy, delight, and awe anytime you want, for anyone you choose.

So, don’t shy away from the “unsexy” stuff like documentation and workflows. Embrace them. Because when you do, you’re not just running a business or managing a team—you’re creating a world where magic happens every single day.

And honestly? That’s a gift worth sharing.
